Jeremiah Johnson

Biography 
General Jeremiah Johnson (1766-1852) began his public service as a town officer and became a trustee of the town of Brooklyn, a position he held for twenty years. He was also supervisor of the town from 1800 to 1840, and mayor of Brooklyn. During the War of 1812, he took part in recruiting troops.
