John Keese

Biography 
John Keese (1755-1809) was a New York City attorney and notary public who lived at 21 Queen Street, now Pearl Street. He was born in Flushing, Long Island to William Keese and Mary Bowne. During the American Revolution, John Keese served as an assistant deputy quartermaster. Although brought up a Quaker, he became a Presbyterian later in life. He was a treasurer of the Society of the Cincinnati. In 1789, he was secretary for the Society of the New-York Hospital and for the Society for Promoting the Manumission of Slaves. He was married to Rhoda Appleby.
