John R. Livingston

Biography 
John R. Livingston (1755-1851), the brother of Chancellor Robert R. Livingston, was an active New York merchant for fifty years. He spent most of the Revolutionary War years in Boston. At that time, he was business partners with his second cousin, Walter Livingston, and John B. Church. He developed John R. Livingston & Co., a textile firm, in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1793.
