William Maxwell

Biography 
William Maxwell (1733-1796) was a New York City tobacco dealer who lived at 4 Wall Street, and had a snuff and tobacco store at 57 Wall Street. He served as a director and vice-president of the Bank of New York. He was also a director of the New York Manufacturing Society, treasurer of the Mutual Assurance Company against Fire from 1787 to 1792, and vice-president of the Saint Andrew's Society.
