George Thatcher

Biography 
George Thatcher (1754-1824) was an American statesman and attorney from Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard College in 1776, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1778. Thatcher was a member of the Continental Congress from 1787 to 1789, and a United States congressman representing Maine from 1789 to 1801. He served as a district judge in Maine from 1792 to 1800 and as a judge on the Supreme Court of Maine from 1820 to 1824. (Maine was a district of Massachusetts until 1820.) Before that time, Thatcher was an associate judge of the Supreme Court of Massachusetts from 1800 to 1820.
