Ahasuerus Turk Jr.

Biography 
Ahasuerus Turk, Jr. was the son of a cordwainer in New York who was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. Turk fought in the Revolutionary War, traveling with his regiment to Canada in 1776. He also became an instrument maker. In the 1790s, he served as an assessor for the City of New York's Fourth Ward and was an engineer in the Volunteer Fire Department.
