Lieutenant Colonel George Turnbull (1729-1810) was born in Scotland and was a British Army officer for over 60 years. He served seven years in the Provincial Corps in America. He fought at key battles for the British Army at Camden and Hobkirk's Hill, and was stationed at Charleston until the evacuation of the British Army. Towards the end of the war, he led the New York Volunteers until the peace treaty was signed. After the war, he kept his 67 Wall Street home.
