NYSL: S.G. Bayne - Quicksteps Through Scandinavia

This book is not included in the display, but its handsome 1908 cloth cover
expresses the adventurous spirit of many of our exhibited authors.

This bookplate comes from the inside front cover
of Matthew Consett's A Tour Through Sweden....

John Watts de Peyster (1821-1907), a longtime member and benefactor of the Library,
donated several particular treasures that are now in the rare book collection.
An alcove was created in the Library's former building on 12th Street at University Place
just to house his donations.
