Remarkably, there are more than 100 members who joined the Library forty or more years ago. The Library proudly feted many of them at a reception in their honor on December 8, 2008. Organized by trustee Barbara H. Stanton and a distinguished planning committee, the evening featured remarks and reminiscences by Chairman of the Board Charles G. Berry, Head Librarian Mark Bartlett, and authors Shirley Hazzard and Thomas J. Fleming. The event was profiled in the New York Times on December 14, 2008 in an article by member Barbara Ascher.
