In this presentation, author and educator Nancy Newman will share simple but powerful secrets that parents and teachers can use to help all young children become skilled, enthusiastic lifelong readers. She will share underlying concepts that tap into children's natural passion for books and learning, demonstrate specific activities that parents can easily weave into busy family schedules, and dispel the myth that technology replaces reading in kids' lives.

Nancy Newman holds a Masters in English Literature and has taught junior high and high school English and remedial writing to adults. Since 1995, she has offered presentations at schools, libraries, and community centers throughout the New York City area. Her novel Disturbing the Peace was published in 2002 by HarperCollins.
