Jean Parker Phifer has been a Trustee of the New York Society Library since 1992.

BIOGRAPHY:
    Architect Jean Phifer specializes in planning, restoration and sustainable design projects for cultural institutions. She has designed or restored numerous distinguished buildings, monuments, public spaces and landscapes, primarily in New York State. Phifer is an adjunct associate professor of Environmental Design at New York University, a fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a LEED accredited professional. She served as architect member and President of the Art Commission of the City of New York, now the Public Design Commission, from 1998-2003. She is the author of Public Art New York (Norton, 2009).

    She serves on the boards of the New York Society Library, the Center for Architecture Foundation and the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. She graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1977 and received her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University in 1977.
