Theodore C. Rogers has served on the boards of four Fortune 500 companies, as well as several private ones. Currently he is non-executive chairman of Bucyrus International, Inc. Rogers served as chief executive officer of Bucyrus International from December 1999 to March 2004 and served as the company’s president from December 1999 to August 2000.
Prior to this, he was executive vice president of Armco Steel Corporation and chairman and CEO of NL Industries.
In 1988, Rogers co-founded American Industrial Partners, a private equity firm with $1 billion of invested equity capital.
Rogers has served on the boards of many arts and cultural organizations, both in Houston and in New York City. He is married to Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, President of the Foundation for Landscape Studies and author of seven books, including a textbook used in university-level landscape architecture programs and a National Book Award nominee.
Rogers is a passionate supporter of the arts. Along with the Library, he is on the board and chairman emeritus of the New York City Ballet; chairman of Theatre for a New Audience, the only American theatre company invited by the Royal Shakespeare Company to perform at Stratford-on-Avon; vice chairman of the board of governors at St. John’s College and also serves on the boards of Poets and Writers magazine and The City Center for Music and Drama.
Rogers has run in 29 consecutive New York City Marathons. To share his love of running and make it possible for all others, he co-founded the Achilles Track Club, an organization that helps people with disabilities participate in long-distance running.
In addition to his MBA from Marquette University, Rogers holds a bachelors degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a master’s of liberal arts degree from St. John’s College, and an honorary doctorate of humane letters, which Miami University presented to him in 2003.
