Awards Aplenty!

In late January, the American Library Association gathered together in New Orleans for their first in-person wintertide conference since 2020. The Youth Media Awards are announced at this annual event. This year, the prizes were full of surprises! The Children’s & YA Librarians carefully assessed our collection and are happy to share that we currently have over 40 of the award-winning titles that earned more than 30 different prizes.

YALSA Nonfiction Award: Victory. Stand!: Raising My Fist for Justice written by Tommie Smith and Derrick Barnes, illustrated by Dawud Anyabwile

The Children's Literature Legacy Award was bestowed upon James E. Ransome and Jason Reynolds received the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing for young adults. Author Rita Williams-Garcia will deliver the 2024 ALSC Children’s Literature Lecture.
