Forthcoming Books - Winter 2025

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.” - Lewis Carroll

With winter's arrival, what better way to stay warm but with a good book and a roaring fireplace. Or, if you're like the millions of New Yorkers without a fireplace, me included, grab a book and spend a few hours in our stacks or members' room. We're excited to share our Winter 2025 list of upcoming titles to start off the New Year. One literary gem coming into the library this winter is the definitive biography of Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels, which Booklist reviewed as "essential for SNL lovers and everyone interested in comedy and television." Another New York City legend has a biography coming to the NYSL, Flaco the Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped from Central Park Zoo, which Publishers Weekly describes as a "a vibrant account of how Flaco captured the hearts of New Yorkers." From mystery master Walter Mosley's latest King Oliver novel to a psychological thriller from the highly acclaimed Freida McFadden, the library has you covered this winter.
