Whether you are at the Library or in your living room, you now have access to so much of the New York Society Library’s extraordinary collection. Books for adults and children remain at its core as they have for more than 260 years. But today we offer materials in many other formats as well.3M EBooks

Thank you to everyone who supported the Library in 2015. Your commitment helped make it an amazing year.

Contributions enabled us to offer two new services: expansion of our open hours, and the introduction of e-books. They also supported everything that makes our Library unique: the outstanding book collection for adults and children, timely lectures, lively performances, and an exceptional staff.

We all look forward to seeing you at the Library very soon!

Parents: Does your family visit the Children’s Library and join in storytimes and author visits?

On May 28th, we welcomed over 50 new members from the past twelve months to a party in their honor. The festivities featured food, drinks and self-guided tours throughout the building.

The highlight of the evening was the memorable remarks by author Richard Peck, Newbery Medal winner for A Year Down Yonder, Newbery Honor winner for A Long Way From Chicago, and Library member since 1984. You will have the pleasure of reading his words in the next edition of Books & People.

Our newly designed Annual Report is now posted. Since the mid-18th century, the Library has held its annual meetings with board members and shareholders on the third Wednesday in April to review the activities of the past year. This year it was on April 17th. We moved up the publication of the 2012 Annual Report to provide the information covered at the meeting closer to that date.
