Canceled: Erwin Flaxman, The World of Philip Roth

Tuesday, February 25, 2020 - 11:00 AM | Whitridge Room | for members only | $60 for the set of four sessions | registration required

The March, April, and May sessions of this seminar are canceled. Registrants are being contacted.

In this sequel to the Library’s 2019 seminar on Philip Roth’s fiction, participants will read and discuss a selection of Roth’s novels written in his early career and midcareer: Goodbye Columbus, Portnoy’s Complaint, The Ghost Writer, and Operation Shylock. In his distinctive mix of literary art and “subliterary shenanigans” (as one critic has put it), Roth writes at his comical and entertaining best about himself, his world, and politics.
