Exhibition Conversation: Andrew Jewell and Robert Thacker, Scenes from Willa Cather's Life in New York

Two leading scholars discuss their research into Willa Cather’s books and letters and the influence of New York City on her work.

Andrew Jewell is a Professor in the University Libraries at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and editor of the Willa Cather Archive. The author of several essays on Cather and American literature, he is also the co-editor of The Selected Letters of Willa Cather and the forthcoming digital edition,The Complete Letters of Willa Cather. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Willa Cather Foundation Board of Governors.
 
Robert Thacker is Charles A. Dana Professor of Canadian Studies and English at St. Lawrence University. His books include the critical biography Alice Munro: Writing Her Lives, and he edited the Everyman’s Library Pocket Poet edition of Cather’s April Twilights and Other Poems. A member of the Willa Cather Foundation Board of Governors and an editor of The Willa Cather Review, he is historical editor of the forthcoming scholarly edition of Cather’s Poems.
 
This event is presented in connection to our exhibition The New York World of Willa Cather, open to the public in the Peluso Family Exhibition Gallery through August 31, 2018.
