Born in southeast Poland in 1934, Lola Rein lost everything at the age of eight when her parents died in the Holocaust. Lola's grandmother arranged for her to be concealed by a Ukrainian family, and she spent seven months hiding in a barn, her only possession a beautiful dress her mother had embroidered for her.
