Workshop: The Primary Stages Off-Broadway Oral History Project
What are the great American plays of our generation? Chances are many of them began off-Broadway.
The Primary Stages Off-Broadway Oral History Project has been digitally recording the stories of off-Broadway through the eyes of the people who pioneered it. The Project began in 2014 and has interviewed over 140 artists so far. At this event, Primary Stages staff discuss the Primary Stages Off-Broadway Oral History Project and the great works that have come out of this major cultural movement, including clips of interviews by such off-Broadway giants as John Guare, Judith Malina, Tom Jones, Andre Bishop, Lynne Meadow, and others.
The full collection of interviews can be found at primarystagesoffcenter.org, which has become an important new learning resource for studies of the off-Broadway movement.
Casey Childs, Founder of Primary Stages, and Sally Plass, Director of Primary Stages Off-Broadway Oral History Project, will lead the event.
