The World of Philip Roth with Erwin Flaxman

Tuesday, February 19, 2019 - 12:00 PM | Whitridge Room | for members only | $60 for the set of four sessions or $20 per session | registration required

Since the recent death of Philip Roth, many readers are returning to his work, and others are coming to him for the first time. Roth is the only author whose work was added to the collection of the Library of American during his lifetime. Participants read four of Roth’s masterworks - American Pastoral, The Human Stain, The Counterlife, and Sabbath’s Theater -  considering how and why he has earned his place in classic American literature.

Erwin Flaxman, PhD., has taught literature at Baruch College of the City University of New York and Temple University, as well as drama, theater, and human choice in imaginative literature at Teachers College, Columbia University. He practices and teaches psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in New York City.
