Writing Life Workshop: The Library of Memory: Recovering Your Story with Julia Ain-Krupa

Tuesday, October 12, 2021 - 11:00 AM | Little Whitridge Room | open to the public | free of charge | registration required

We're excited to be presenting in-person events beginning in October. All individuals attending in-person Members’ Room or Whitridge Room events will be required to show proof of vaccination (Excelsior Pass, vaccination card, photo of vaccination card) at check-in. Please note that we continue to monitor all the news about COVID-19, and we reserve the right to make changes to any or all events including postponement, cancelation, or a change to livestreaming only. Registrants will be contacted as far in advance as possible in the case of any such change.

This 6-week workshop will explore new ways of connecting to storytelling and discovering how fulfilling writing one’s own story can be. Participants will delve into writing emotions and connecting to the meaning of one’s own life experience. This is a workshop for those who have always wished to write about their lives, but have hesitated, and for anyone looking to tell their story to connect to others, or simply to revitalize their memory. Through creative exercises, we will work to connect to the past to find meaning in the present.

Julia Ain-Krupa is offering this workshop as an inception workshop for her large-scale project, the Library of Memory, which will document the life narratives of older adults. Those who wish to contribute their written works to an anthology at the end of the course will be welcome; however, no one will be obliged to do so, and it is not the primary purpose of the workshop.

This workshop is limited to 10 people and is recommended for participants age 60 and up.
