Young Writers' Workshop: Dave Johnson on Contemporary Poetry

In this ongoing series, young writers are invited to join notable writers in exploring different genres. 

Poet and playwright Dave Johnson will lead a discussion on contemporary poetry and teach participants how writers turn ideas into poems. Children will leave this workshop with a broad view of poetry and the inspiration and knowledge to craft their own poems.

Dave Johnson is the author of the play "Baptized to the Bone," Marble Shoot and is the editor of Movin’, an anthology of poems. He teaches at Yale University, The New School University, The Cooper Union School of Art, Poets House and the nationwide Poetry in The Branches Public Library Initiative. Johnson is currently serving as Poety in Residence for The Department of Probation of New York City.
