Young Writers' Workshop: Dave Johnson, Contemporary Poetry

In this ongoing series, young writers are invited to join notable authors in exploring different genres. Poet and playwright Dave Johnson will lead a discussion on contemporary poetry and teach participants how writers turn ideas into poems. Children will leave this workshop with a broad view of poetry and the inspiration and knowledge to craft their own poems.

Dave Johnson is the author of Marble Shoot and editor of the poetry anthology Movin’. He teaches poetry at universities, schools, and libraries throughout the country, including The New School University, Yale University, and Poets House. He is currently serving as the Poet in Residence for the Department of Probation of New York City.
