The roaring apocalypse dream eater

a dream like an apocalypse
of sound
a shudder, a grumble
it emerges and looms over
like a checkered snake
a light bursts from a crack
from somewhere beyond me
a rumble, a moan and it all
goes black but it is not
over. A sprout slowly emerges
and before my eyes a flower
and then a tree, a forest
light flows like water across
the darkened ground
but mist and gloom fill
the air. But then life and
yellow canaries flutter around
                           like stars
