I Am From

I am from the slice of the peppers from the kitchen and the bubbles of the carrots boiling in the
hard, steel pot on the stove.

I am from the gentle chuckle as my sister, mother and I flip the pages of our favorite books with
curiosity that shows on our faces.

I am from the afternoons that are filled with munching on saltines and laughs of my book,
washed down with a cup of icy water.

I am from the amazing smell that wakes me up in the morning and brings me to where the
delicious scent is brewing in the kitchen.

I am from fast songs and impressing dancing.

I am from the loud laughs and curious faces when I raise both of my eyebrows individually.

I am from the amazing feeling of freshly sharpened pencils.

I am from all that came before me and all that follows me after.
