Over the summer we welcomed three new staff members and one honorary staff member! Please say hello the next time you visit the Library.

 

Lawi Kibet is the Library's new Controller. Lawi previously worked as the Controller at the Metropolitan New York Library Council. More recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Rural Development Solutions LTD & RDS Foundation in Nairobi, Kenya. Lawi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Bloomfield College and a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University. 

 

You'll see Circulation Assistant Alexander Bolesta at the front desk. Alex is currently pursuing joint degrees at Queens College for his Master of Library and Information Science and Master of Arts in History. He holds a BS in Physics from Drexel University and was formerly the web editor and database assistant at the American Museum of Natural History as well as a zookeeper at the Trevor Zoo in Millbrook, NY! Alex enjoys reading historical fiction and fantasy the most, and recent favorite authors include Elizabeth Strout, Alice Hoffman, and Shirley Jackson.

 

Morgan Boyle joins us as Assistant Children's and Young Adult Librarian. Morgan is a graduate student at Queens College, working towards her Master of Library and Information Science with a focus on children's and young adult services. Morgan is from Nebraska, where she worked for the Lincoln Public Libraries. As a longtime lover of reading she enjoys a wide variety of genres including poetry, graphic novels, mysteries, and wordless picture books.  

 

 

 

 

And who's this? We are also excited to announce the arrival of our newest honorary staff member, Viola Faye Amato Price, who will be known as Lola! Book Conservator Christina Amato and her fiancé Andre Price welcomed Lola on August 8, clocking in at 6.4 pounds and 19 inches.
