Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol: Being a Ghost Story of Christmas

Monday, December 16, 2013 - 6:30 PM | Members' Room | Open to the Public

Of New York City, Charles Dickens once wrote, "There are those in this city who would brighten, to me, the darkest winter day that ever glimmered..." Every year, here and around the world, crowds still gather to welcome back Dickens's iconic tale of a wintry heart brightened by the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. This innovative 90-minute adaptation by Laurie Strickland and John Greenleaf brings new life to the classic tale of transformation and hope. Speaking only Dickens's text, a small company of professional performers, including a Victorian-style busker, evoke the story's snowy London world. Austin Pendleton stars as Ebenezer Scrooge.
