Daytime Talk Series: The Editor's Pen with Walter Bode

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 - 10:00 AM | For members only | Whitridge Room | Free of charge; advance registration required

People often ask Walter Bode what it’s like to work with a freelance editor, although everyone’s experience is different, this presentation will take you into the heart of the matter, a before-and-after example of editing. Attendees will receive pages of a real manuscript before it is edited. At the talk, Bode will show the editing he did on the manuscript, what he was looking for, what kinds of changes he made, and what kind of questions and suggestions he offered.

Walter Bode has been in book publishing for three decades. Now working independently, books he has edited have won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, the Casey Award for Best Sports Book, the Lambda Award for Best Fiction, the Whitbread Award for Biography, and the Gold Dagger for Best Mystery Novel.
