Peter D. Kramer, Against Depression

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 - 6:30 PM | Temple Israel

In the wake of his groundbreaking 1993 book Listening to Prozac, psychiatrist Peter Kramer began to ask how the prevalence of depression in our society influences our perception of the condition - and whether a "cult of melancholy" that thinks of the depressed as sensitive, deep, even romantic, is hindering proper treatment of a debilitating multi-symptom illness. This event is co-sponsored by WNET/Thirteen New York.
