Later America's most popular and controversial playwright, whose works included The Glass Menagerie and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Tennessee Williams concentrated his youthful talent just as intently on poetry as on plays. His good friend during that time, former U.S. Poet Laureate William Jay Smith, shares his stories of Williams's development as a writer and critical analysis of his early work.
