Writing Life Workshop: Writing with Tarot with A.E. Osworth

Wednesday, November 11, 2020 - 6:00 PM | online | for members only | by donation | registration required

Feeling stuck in your writing? Uninspired? Overwhelmed? Break out your tarot deck and light up your prose practice with a little magic. In this three-session Writing Life seminar, learn to use this deck of 78 archetypes to shake out of your writing rut and surprise even yourself. Participants will write from prompts influenced and inspired by the tarot cards. No particular tarot experience is required, but having a tarot deck will help you get the most out of our sessions (there are a ton of good ones out there, and you can always use a virtual one). Each session will be comprised of: one "class card" group writing exercise, one mini tarot lecture, and a share-back. Participants will have once-weekly prompts for the duration of the course, to be completed outside the synchronous meeting times.

A.E. Osworth is the author of the novel We Are Watching Eliza Bright (Grand Central Publishing, April 2021). They’ve also spent eight years writing all over the internet, including a stint as Geekery Editor for Autostraddle; their work has been published in Quartz, Mashable, Electric Literature, Guernica, and Paper Darts, among others. In addition to the Library, they teach classes at The New School, Catapult, and Fledgling. They're currently writing their second book by pulling a tarot card per chapter. Photo by Lou F. Bank.
