With Gratitude

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Have you noticed a new plaque in the lobby? It is on the left wall behind the Circulation Desk.

We received a bequest from The Estate of Marian O. Naumburg that made possible Handi-Lift access in the Library's entrance stair, an array of special performances and staged readings, and our offsite storage initiative. Marian Naumburg lived in New York City her entire life and died at the age of 101 in 2007. According to her friend and one of the Estate's executors, Iris Alster, Mrs. Naumburg loved the New York Society Library. She was an avid reader with particular interests in art and architecture. As the Estate was being distributed, Ms. Alster thought "how very nice that we can do something for the New York Society Library."

On behalf of current and future members, the Library is proud to acknowledge the generosity of The Estate of Marian O. Naumburg with this plaque.
