Gray has authored numerous books of fiction and nonfiction including Simone Weil, At Home with the Marquis de Sade, Rage and Fire, and Soviet Women. Them is a portrait of Gray's mother and stepfather, who fled war-torn Europe to become the center of New York's high society.
