Seminar: James Kraft, Literature of the Great War

As the Library’s new exhibition makes clear, the First World War generated both great destruction and vast creativity. In this seminar, perennially popular instructor James Kraft guides discussion of some of the most enduring novels from the war’s era or aftermath. Authors to be covered will include Erich Maria Remarque (pictured), e.e. cummings, Ernest Hemingway, John Dos Passos, and Virginia Woolf. Copies of the recommended editions will be available for registrants to purchase.

James Kraft holds a PhD in English Literature from Fordham University and has taught at the University of Virginia, Université Laval in Quebec, and Wesleyan University. He has published on Henry James and other writers, including the authoritative reference on American poet Witter Bynner.
