National Poetry Month: Recent Arrivals

Wednesday, April 7, 2021

April is National Poetry Month, and the Acquisitions Department is celebrating in the best way we know how: with a list of recent arrivals. (If you can't get enough book lists, see our Black History Month 2021 and Women's History Month 2021 lists.)

There are over 200 books here—poems and poets across centuries, cultures, styles, and schools. You will find multi-author anthologies; single-author collections; revealing biographies and memoirs, including letters and journals; in-depth criticism, essays, and history; and a handful of epics newly translated. A selection from our Children's Library, including books for young adults, follows.

Newly published poetry collections can be discovered in our Lobby and our large collection of poetry (and criticism) lives on Stack 9. We encourage you to slowly peruse the shelves—you never know what you might find. Additionally, the Lyn Chase Poetry Collection in the Whitridge Room—now temporarily restricted due to COVID—is an excellent browsing collection. You can read about Lyn Chase (trustee emerita) and the ways in which her outstanding generosity has enriched our poetry collection in this blog post.
