Plenty to Be Thankful For

Monday, November 21, 2016

The Library will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. But though it will be quiet in the building, the web will still be humming. Here are a few of the things we're thankful to be offering:

For everybody:

City Readers!

Thanksgiving is a quintessential U.S. holiday, officially created by President Lincoln in 1863. City Readers shows the interests and intellectual life of the country's founders. The Library created this marvelous new resource, but it's available to anyone through our website. If you haven't yet looked up your favorite figure from the late 18th or early 19th century, we think it's a great post-holiday-dinner activity. To get you started, here are Aaron Burr and Declaration of Independence drafter Robert R. Livingston.
